On this day, 3 June 2016, a federal judge in the United States ruled that women’s soccer players could not go on strike, despite their collective bargaining agreement (which included a no-strike clause) having expired. The women were in dispute over pay discrimination, as their male equivalents made up to 4 times more money, despite the women’s team being much more successful and generating more revenue than the men’s.
